Something New

Our challenge this week at Speedy's Friends is to use something new on your card. I got some new designer paper and the sweet little flower charms that I got from Mark's Finest Papers. I colored the gold charm in with a Sharpie, a trick I saw used by fellow Design Team member NancyRuth. The stamp set is Pears and Hollyhock colored in Copic markers.

New Year's Resolutions...

Our challenge at Splitcoast was to create a card to show our New Year's resolutions. My problem isn't making the card, it is actually sending it! I am late or forgetful with almost every birthday throughout the year so I am going to try and correct that this year. Promise.
All supplies are Stampin' Up: Birthday (hostess set), new Springtime Vintage paper, pearls. Cardstock is Blushing Bride and Wild Wasabi.

Color Challenge

Our SCS Color Challenge for this week is Night Of Navy, Old Olive, and Daffodil Delight. I went with the daffodil for my predominant color, the Mark's Finest Papers set Pears and Hollyhock colored in Copics with the Nestabilities Fleur de Lis die frames in the navy and olive. I also wheeled a white SU leaf motif on the DD textured cardstock. Hope you can join us for the challenge this week!
It felt so good to stamp something today. We are undergoing an unexpected and major construction project so I am without my stamping studio. It took me about 20 minutes to find my scissors and tape but I was determined to finish the card!

Sandy Claws

A quick card I made for my son. His current favorite movie is The Nightmare Before Christmas and they have a song called Kidnap The Sandy Claws that he has been singing over and over (and over), so he will really love this card. I think that is what I love the most about stamping. You can make exactly what you need at any given moment, a feature Hallmark just can't do for you!
I hope you all have the merriest of Christmases, with many blessings to you in the coming year. May it be filled with good health and good times!
Holiday Hugs,
Joanne

A Punch In The Face

Well, sort of... This is a card from the past where I used the 3 flower punch to make Santa's beard and added some Dazzling Diamonds, circle punches and word window along with scallop square also used. All supplies are Stampin' Up.

Build a Blossom

It is my week to host the Color Challenge on Splitcoast. I looked and looked but did not see my very favorite ever combination ever used. Drumroll, please... Basic Black, Real Red, and Whisper White with the dessert option of hearts.
The big flower is the new Build A Blossom and coordinating punch available in January from Stampin' Up. I am so in love with this stamp set and punch! I used the Medallion stamp in black behind that and the red hearts in the corner are from Mark's Finest Papers set Hearts Hearts Hearts. Build a brad center in pewter.

Vintage Christmas Tree

This is an older, retired Stampin' Up Christmas set that I really love. This took forever to color in with markers but I think it is one of my favorites of all of the card I have made. I should be getting to my stamping supplies sometime this weekend to make some new things for you.

Ghosts Of Christmas Past

I am having some home issues that need to be dealt with and have not had any opportunity at all to stamp so I will be sharing some of my favorites from Christmas past projects. Hope you like them and are having happy holidays and enjoying everything that goes into making this a beautiful time of the year.
The first is a hat that flips open at the top part and holds a gift card. I got the template for this project on Splitcoast. All supplies are Stampin' Up.
The second is a sleigh from a Sizzix die. Brushed Gold cardstock embossed with Bella Toile and a little 3D Santa embellishment to drive the sleigh!

Mark's Finest Paper Blog Hop Day 4

Today's featured set is called Take A Peek. Cute as can be!
I made a little birdhouse and filled it with treats. Stamped the raccoon on the house and colored it in Copic markers before assembling the template. I used the word Peek! from the full sentiment and cut it from a scalloped oval Nestability die. I've been into making treat containers lately with a lot of December birthdays and holidays coming up this month.
Here is a view of the other side:

Mark's Finest Papers Blog Hop Day 3

This versatile set is called Hello Sunshine, great for all year and all occasions. I used to do a lot of cross stitch before I discovered stamping so I have tons of supplies begging to be used. I made a magnet using one of those frames, coloring the pretty sunshine with various Copic markers, also available at Mark's Finest Papers store.
My second sample uses Basic Grey Indian Summer designer paper.

Mark's Finest Papers BLOG HOP

Today's new release from Mark's Finest Papers is called Hearts Hearts Hearts. It is fabulous for Valentine's Day of course, but also for friendship, love, anniversary, and all occasions. I made a mailbox out of silver cardstock and added some punched greenery behind the heart which I colored and cut out. I added another heart and sentiment to the flag. The template for this mailbox can be found at Splitcoast , under downloads, then templates. This is Brenda Quintana's pattern (Qbee). I made mine shorter and ran the one piece through the crimper.

Fifth Avenue Floral card set

All supplies are Stampin' Up (except for red half pearls). Fifth Avenue Floral in black, white, and red with Well Scripted sentiment and retired designer paper. I don't know the name of this one either. I always use that cardboard insert to stamp on as a scratch pad and that is where the name of the paper pack is.
This was a case of a group of cards by Laura Fredrickson as today's Featured Stamper challenge on SCS.

Christmas Countdown Calendar

Every year I make a Christmas Countdown calendar for my son. I thought he had outgrown it but yesterday he told me he still loves doing this. I guess you are never too old for chocolate! Each day he puts a heart sticker on that date and gets his candy :) The heart stickers are removable and will be used again for valentines and the calendar will become a scrapbook page for this year's Christmas. I hate to throw anything away!
Calendar and Holiday Sampler sets by Stampin' Up. The paper is Candy Cane Christmas with Real Red and Whisper White cardstocks. The letters are Heidi Swapp chipboard run through the Xyron and then covered with red glitter.

Holiday Gift Tags

For these tags I used one sheet of Whisper White and one sheet of Real Red (plus a couple of small scraps). To make it easy I used just red and black ink and some Christmas stamps I had in my holiday pile on my desk. You can always use some extra tags, right? All supplies are Stampin' Up except for baker's twine.

Today's SCS Color Challenge

The Splitcoast colors for Tuesday's challenge are Old Olive, River Rock, and Real Red with the neutral of your choice. The dessert option is to make it a Christmas card which should be easy to do with these colors. I made two samples, my first one uses all Stampin' Up. The stamp set is The World Over with some retired designer paper.
The second uses Mark's Finest Papers Greetings Of The Season with a bit of a different color cardinal than the traditional red. I did it in this color so I could fit in with Mothermark's gold finch in the teapot challenge also. More SU designer paper and the Merry Christmas tag sentiment is from the set Holiday Best by SU.

Pick A Petal Medallion

I love combining stamp sets. For this Clean and Simple challenge today, the mission was to do a 3D flower birthday card. I embossed the Medallion stamp in white on the Very Vanilla cardstock, Pick A Petal flower on Creamy Caramel also white embossed and cut out and layered. The center is a vintage brad. Matting is Crumb Cake with the base of Very Vanilla. Birthday sentiment is from Teeny Tiny wishes. All supplies are Stampin' Up.

More Valentines for OWH

Most of the supplies here are Stampin' Up. Stamp sets: Season Of Friendship, Forest Friends, Things That I Love, and Owl Together Now. Dp is Sweet Nothings on Rose Red. Added some little red half pearls to the bottom of the frame (a Sizzix scallop square) and added some striped baker's twine. This stuff is awesome and very inexpensive. You can find it at most craft stores in with the candy/cupcake decorating baking supplies.

More Christmas stuff!

For this pinecone I discovered the use of the Stampin' Up photo corner punch and it made this a cinch to make. Much easier than my first where I folded all of those square into points! Start with the smaller corner size around the bottom of the styrofoam egg and continue layering and overlapping all of the way around with the slightly larger corners and finish at the top with the smaller ones again. These are all secured with pins. Embellish top as desired.
My second ornament was very inexpensive (about a dollar) to make and really looks gorgeous on the tree where the light reflects off of all of those gold beads. Clear acrylic ornament from Michael's filled with a gold bead garland that I scored at Goodwill today. I got a huge bag filled with garlands, baubles, and beads for $2. This will keep me happily crafting for a while. The poinsettia is from K&Co.
The third is a card I made for Speedy's Friends challenge this week for a circle on your card. I used the Seasonal Poinsettias from Mark's Finest Papers and Memory Box paper, Santa charm is also from MFP. Faith has the cutest embellishments!

Paper Pinecone Ornament

My first attempt at a paper pinecone ornament with a tutorial I came across at The Hybrid Chick website. You start with a styrofoam egg and layer your folded paper in rows. I'm sure my following efforts will be neater and I will make my points a bit smaller but I'm happy with my starter. Designer paper is retired SU. This is a great way to use up some of that dp you have in storage! Poinsettias are silk Primas.

Thankful Thursday

It's hard to believe that next Thursday will be Thanksgiving already! Just enough time to get some cards mailed back home to the East Coast. All supplies for this card are Stampin' Up. For todays SCS challenge to use brown and for the CAS sketch.
Day Of Gratitude stamp set colored with markers of Saffron, Pumpkin, Riding Hood Red, and Celery. Sentiment is embossed in Copper, vintage brad used for medallion center. Rub on from Autumn Harvest.

A Claus For Christmas

I loved today's SCS sketch and made two more holiday cards. I'll have to flip the sketch, I think it would be really pretty going the other way also.
For my first card I used all Stampin' Up supplies. The owl punch was used for Mr. and Mrs. Claus and the hat is from the retired Cold Play set. Sentiment from Holiday Sampler. Paper is retired, cardstocks used were Old Olive, Real Red, and Very Vanilla.
The second card uses Mark's Finest Papers and the sets Greetings Of The Season and Flourishes and Frames.

Plum Poinsettias

This week's Color Challenge at Splitcoaststampers is to use Perfect Plum, Pear Pizzazz, and Baja Breeze with your choice of a neutral. The dessert option is to add a pennant/banner if that is something you would like to try.
My card used Stampin' Up supplies of the above cardstocks with the holly bough stamped in matching ink on the Plum, retired Autumn something paper, white taffeta ribbon and coloring in markers. I don't know if there is such a thing as purple poinsettias but I wanted to make a Christmas card with something current for this challenge. Pear frame is the Lacy Square Nestabilities.
