Postage stamp inspiration

Here is some more evidence that I can't throw anything away. I thought the front of the book of postage stamps was so pretty, I used it as my inspiration for this card. I cut out some Pacific Point cardstock with a pair of postage stamp edged scissors and adhered the Holiday Baubles cover, popped it up on dimensionals, and added some silver cording. The Whisper White cardstock was embossed with a Cuttlebug snowflake folder. The small ornaments were stamped in matching ink (lighter ones stamped off once) using Stampin' Up's Ornament Keepsakes, and cut using Spellbinders Nestabilities Ornaments.

Halloween is almost here!

A quick card for my neighbor who really loves Halloween. I used Stampin' Up supplies of Basic Gray and Old Olive cardstocks, stamp sets: Wicked Cool, House of Haunts, and Home is where the haunt is. Fence punch is by Martha Stewart, embossing lattice squares folder and Top Note die by SU.

The second picture is a decoration I did for under my garage door using a pair of striped socks filled with plastic grocery bags and pointy toed shoes. This brings a smile to everyone who sees it!

Sparkling Snowflake Ornament

Glitter paper, Snowflakes Sizzix die, silver stretch cording (retired), and faceted button and rhinestone all Stampin' Up. I used a Spellbinders Nesatbilities round and scallop round die for the ornament, sequins added to each scallop to maximize sparkle. The snowflake was cut with the Big Shot and Snowflake die and I used the negative and positive parts of the cutting. To back this and make it strong, I used a scallop cut from the lightweight cardboard that comes with any SU designer paper pack. This is why I never know the names of most of the dp I use :) I am always using that cardboard for other things. My favorite use is to cut it into A2 card size pieces and then run these pieces through the crimper. This helps to protect the card and embellishments a bit when mailing.

Tag Keeper

Tag keeper is made using a 6" x 6" scrapbook page protector. Cherry Cobbler cardstock embossed with Northern Flurry folder, Be of Good Cheer designer paper, to/from sentiment from Owl Occasions set, SU Sizzix snowflake in silver glitter paper with an antique brad, small snowflake is by Martha Stewart, all else is Stampin' Up. I have a bunch more tags made to go in this, this just shows a few. A great way to use small pieces! These are 3x3" and 2 1/4" square, I tried to get as many as I could from one sheet of cardstock.

Halloween Tree

An all seasons tree decorated for Halloween to cheer up my stamping space! I will leave this up and convert it to Thanksgiving after next week, and then on to Christmas. Sorry for the dark photo but our Seattle rainy season has set in so I need all of the cheer that this extra tree lighting will bring :) I made most of the ornaments seen here.

One Sheet Wonders

All of these items were made using one sheet of 12"x12" designer paper. I used a retired one by Stampin' Up that I really liked, but anything would work. I am trying to mostly use up my supply of paper before I can justify buying more of it :)

Supplies used were Scentsational Season for gingerbreadman and candy canes, greetings from Greetings of the Season and Glad Tidings, Very Vanilla, Whisper White, Old Olive, and Real Red cardstocks, Punches and dies: Holiday Collection, scallop oval, pinking hearts border, bird and branch, Ornament Keepsakes, and Spellbinders Nestabilities for tags. Red pearls and thread are non SU. For all of the scrap pieces I had I punched out mittens so nothing went to waste, I will use these on more cards and tags to come.

Ornament Upgrade

I will be making lots of holiday projects this week and next- tags, bags, candle coverings, cards, ornaments and gifts. Hope you will stop back and visit and maybe be inspired to get an early start on some Christmas ideas with me. I scored a big bag of ornaments at the Goodwill store for $3 and am giving some of them a little makeover. I added sequins to this gold filigree ornament to catch the tree lights even better and added some gold ribbon and cording.

Boxed Notes

The boxed notecards were found in either Joann's or Michael's dollar bin last year. I covered it with a glue stick and retired SU designer paper, layered faceted buttons with some crochet thread, and tag from Office Accoutrements stamp set in Poppy Parade. I had plenty of practicing covering library books when I volunteered at my son's school, this is a very similar process :)

Gold Embossed Ornament Keepsake

Lots of gold embossing on this ornament. I started with a 3" circle and kept adding the cut out embossed ornaments to cover circle. Added gathered bunches of tulle ribbon between sections. The center is the plastic part from an empty ribbon spool with a part of the ornament stamp in gold cut to fit and then added a vintage brad.

Sweet Sketch Sunday layout.

Beautiful Season ornament

Beautiful Season image by Stampin' Up colored in Copic markers. The ornament splits in half so you can insert your image and then glue back together at the seams. These can be found at Ben Franklin Crafts, Michael's and Joann's. I added some fake snow flakes before closing.

Treat Cup Christmas Doily

I've spent the morning cleaning up my stamping space and came across this treat cup and decided to turn it into a card. The desk is still quite a mess and I can't find a bunch of things so I need to get back to it and try really hard to not get distracted by any more interesting objects or baubles. I'm sure I'm not the only one this happens to :) Red cardstock, embossed white Hello Doily, Greetings of the Season in black. Treat cup with retired SU Christmas set filled with red beads.

Festival of Prints Mitten

The Festival of Prints designer paper pack by Stampin' Up has a nice varied selection. I chose this double sided piece, cut into strips, for this card with some Bashful Blue and Cherry Cobbler cardstock. Greetings of the Season sentiment.

Postage Due

This is for the Splitcoast Stampers Hope You Can Cling To challenge to create cards for Anderson Medical Center in Houston, benefitting cancer patients and their families. I'm a bit late getting started but am sure I can catch up.

This is an SU set that I really liked but have a little bit of difficulty in making it work. The challenge was to make a predominantly gray card with a pop of color, which was pink for breast cancer awareness. All supplies are Stampin' Up (paper is retired Christmas).

Cookies for Santa

Stampin' Up supplies: Retired SU holiday paper, Real Red Olive, and Very Vanilla cardstock. Scentsational Season gingerbread cookies with matching Holidays framelit, sentiment from Creatively Yours (I think this is retired also).

Be of Good Cheer Bows

Inspired by the samples of these I found on Pinterest by Tania Willis and Catherine Pooler, these bows are super easy and fun to make. You can make the loops any size you want to change the bow size. (9 strips with the ends taped together to form a circle or loop, find center and tape. Punch a hole in very center and add brad, arranging loops as you add.) I used Be of Good Cheer designer paper and various buttons, fabric yoyos, and brads to finish and secure all of the loops.

Pines and Poinsettia

This Stampin' Up set Pines & Poinsettia, from last year, is perfect if you are looking for a solid image. Pine cones and poinsettias were stamped in Versamark and then embossed with clear powder. Ink colors of Poppy, Regal Rose, Soft Suede, and Celery were sponged on around areas. Pearlescent Shimmer chalk in lime was used to blend in areas and then was sprayed with Vanilla Smooch Spritz. It is so pretty and pearlescent, hard to see in picture. Whisper White card base was embossed with Tulip Border folder. Oval scallop punches also by SU.

Christmas Tin Door Hanger

I know it's early but I wanted to get a good headstart on holiday gift and ornament projects. This galvanized tin door hanger/container was purchased at Ben Franklin Crafts. Adirondack alcohol inks in Cranberry and Butterscotch were used to color tin, paper accents are retired SU holiday designer paper with Greetings of the Season sentiment and antique brads to embellish. I love the way this turned out! Not sure if I will fill it with greenery and berries or a card and some treats. Either way, it's going to be hard to part with :)

Beautiful Season

All supplies are Stampin' Up. Sketch is this week's Mojo Monday layout. Crumb Cake card base with retired SU holiday paper, Cherry Cobbler taffeta ribbon on scallop circle that is from pennant Sizzix die. Beautiful Season stamp set. The larger circle is a piece of wax paper embossed with the Petals-a-Plenty folder, I didn't want to cover too much of the holly design on the paper. Added piercing around the edges.
