Background Check

Making The Most Of It- Backgrounds.

Working on a supply of background techniques so putting a card together should be a quick thing. I'll be ready!
The first card uses Brushos color crystals in Scarlet and then was sprayed with Nuvo Flamingo glitter spray. Stamped Stampin' Up!'s En Francais atop this in Going Gray and then Chere Amie (the French version of My Friend) in Versamark and black powder. Main image is "Paris Dreams" by Technique Junkies. Nuvo platinum embellishment mousse and Tim Holtz stencil angled on side.
The second one is my absolute favorite, using many different colors of Brushos crystals and more mousse with a doily stencil. I don't think I will be able to cover this one up, maybe just a small sentiment?

The third uses silver and gold Nuvo glitter spray on Whisper White. Ran through Big Shot with SU folder and then colored these with Nuvo glitter pens of Silver and Iced Americano. Very shimmery!

The last picture is an array of various backgrounds in different techniques.

Celebrating Color!

For background I used orange color crystals and a stencil to get a similar pattern to the Darling Blooms stamp, stamped Fairy Tale Flowers sentiment. Stamped flower background and cut out around top edges and adhered to orange panel. Highlighted flower centers with Nuvo enamel drops in four different colors, a couple of these are glow in the dark ones.
I combined a few challenges here- the fussy cutting and orange with turquoise challenges at Splitcoast and the new cut around the corners challenge at Technique Junkies.

Paris Inspiration

I took my inspiration for this card from this eyeglass case.
On Whisper White card stock I painted the whole front with Twinkling H2O's for shimmer, stamped French collage and sponged edges with Peony Pink Nuvo embellishment mousse. Stamped butterfly on card front and again on white, colored in Copics- cut out and popped up atop first stamped image. Le Tour Eiffel collage and Butterfly are from Technqiue Junkies. The postmark and Bonjour sentiment are from a stamp set that was from Paris, maker unknown.

Party Chicks

For the Splitcoaststamper sketch challenge, I turned the layout on it's side. It's a cute and versatile sketch that I will probably use again.
I have also used this for the Technique Junkies sketch challenge
Whisper White and Basic Black card stocks with Technqiue Junkies Party Chicks and this hilarious sentiment of theirs. Colored in Copics, added some stars in Summer Sun that were highlighted with Wink Of Stella glitter, sequins to embellish.

Woking with the same sketch, this card is for National Siblings Day, April 10th and will go to my younger sister who lives at the Jersey Shore. She is about one block from the beach in the first town south of Atlantic City and the famous Boardwalk. We chat once a week and it feels as if I am only a couple of miles away instead of a couple thousand.
This card uses the new Technique Junkies Fairy Tale Flowers on Whisper White that was covered with Powder Blue Nuvo embellishment mousse and then silver embossed. Image is Besties colored in Prismacolor pencils and Copics.

Fairy Tale Flowers

I am a serious background stamp addict, I must confess. The very first thing I do when I get a new Stampin' Up! catalog is head straight for the background stamps and start making a wish list. I think they are so versatile, not just as a backdrop, but are awesome for the main image. I will be working with this Technique Junkies set today and will be back with more variations.

The first card uses Whisper White as the base, stamped image in Memento Tuxedo Black and then covered with Nuvo embellishment mousses of Peony Pink, Cornflower Blue, and Lemon Sorbet. This lightened the stamped lines to a dark gray color. On Shimmery White I stamped the sentiment in black a few times using the Misti stamp positioner. Spellbinders frame. Added some paper quilled flowers that were cut with the Tim Holtz Tattered Florals die to accentuate the colors used on the card. Also for the Card Concept #90 challenge of Sweet Treats colors and flowers.

I have a basket of pre-made panels that were done using various Tim Holtz distress oxide inks which makes it easy to throw a card together. The only drawback is I usually can't remember exactly which combination of inks I used :)
The Fairy Tale Flowers was stamped on one of these panels with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and individual flowers were colored using Copic markers and highlighted with white gel pen. Sentiment embossed in glossy black on vellum.

Peony Collage

Making The Most Of It- Peony Collage

Today I am working with the new Technique Junkies background stamp Peony Collage. All were embossed in gold on Whisper White card stock and then colored and shaded in different inks and glitters. This is such a gorgeous stamp, great for backgrounds or to stand alone as the main design.

Beachy Little Christmas

Making The Most Of It featuring "BEACHY LITTLE CHRISTMAS"

One more down for the Christmas Card challenge, to feature a house or building of some sort.
Supplies are Stampin' Up!- Bermuda Bay, Whisper White, and Basic Gray card stocks, Beachy Little Christmas stamp set, colored in Prismacolor pencils and Copic markers to highlight.

Whisper White card base with watercolor paper for the main panel and brushos color crystals for background. Heat embossed the tree in white and added some sequins to adorn. Sentiment embossed in white on Real Red.

My third card uses Creamy Caramel (retired but still loved) with a pop of Real Red for the sentiment and the Tim Holtz sand dollar die dotted with my never to be sold Itty Bitty Backgrounds in Soft Suede and Baked Brown Sugar. The smaller shells were stamped using Early Espresso. House colored in Copic markers, cut out and popped up on dimensionals.
Three very different looks with the same set!
